PA Web closure – important update
PA Web is a website that has been used in Kent to provide information and guidance, as well as an advertising platform for adults looking to employ a Personal Assistant (PA) to support them with social care and daily living needs. The website will no longer be available and is due to close on 30 June 2026.
The platform was piloted in Kent to support people using direct payments to employ a personal assistant and gain greater choice and control over their care and support. Uptake through PA Web has been lower than expected and, to make the best use of public funding and resources, a decision has been made to wind down the website.
The Direct Payments team at Kent County Council is contacting anyone they are aware of who currently uses PA Web to discuss their support needs and provide an ongoing point of contact.
People who are eligible for social care support from the local authority can continue to contact the Direct Payments team for advice and guidance after the website closes.
For people who are not eligible for local authority funded care and support, or who fund their own care but would still like help, the Kent Micro‑enterprises team offers a validated list of very small businesses that provide a wide range of services including personal care, help in the home, getting out and about, companionship, as well as a range of community support groups and activities and holistic therapies.
Personal assistants who currently advertise their services on PA Web are invited to join the Personal Assistant Register and can also speak to the Micro-enterprise team about becoming a Kent Micro‑enterprise. This is a supported way of starting a very small business to meet the needs of your local community.
Public information and guidance will continue to be available through the Kent Connect to Support website, including a community directory of local services, charities and groups, as well as guidance on independent living. However, it will no longer be possible to register as a personal assistant or as an employer of a personal assistant through PA Web.
